So I, somehow, convinced my best friend to take a 30-day maximum beauty potential challenge with me. As evidenced by the question at the end of my last post, I've been really thinking about the whole concept of reaching your optimal beauty potential.
I should probably clarify.
I believe that regardless of what a person looks like physically, there is another, more beautiful person that they could be if s/he: 1) ate all the fruits and vegetables their body needed, 2) exercised, 3) used makeup to enhance their best features, 4)put together the most flattering outfits, 5) is balanced in their spirit. A person that performs all of these tasks is a mythical creature, in my opinion. But many of us (not me), manage to successfully achieve at least 3 of these categories. I usually gawk, a bit, at those people.
Inspired by Morgan Spurlock of Supersize Me fame and his show "30 days" I would like to challenge myself to live in a world that is very different than my real world. The first part of this challenge will be the actual creation of the challenge. I am going to create a set of rules for myself for the 30 days and see if anything sticks. Daily, I will try to take pictures, to keep me honest. Anyone else interested in this challenge? I'm going to post my very first youtube video on this concept.
Hair (and Stuff) according to Liz
I've always wanted to do a blog, but didn't think I had anything to say that could be considered a meaningful or worthwhile contribution. However, I've been told that I should blog because I seem to have something to say and the world should be able to hear it. I will try to keep my posts to just hair, natural hair to be exact, but anything is fair game!

sorry for such a long pause
Even though nobody reads this blog, yet, I still apologize for the long sabbatical I took. I was trying to get things situated and I didn't think I had anything to talk about so I didn't.
Well, the follow up on the invisible part weave is that I made an invisible part wig! Yup! it was fairly simple. And it came out well. I've been wearing it for two weeks and I like it as a protective style.
But now I have the wig making bug! I didn't anticipate becoming addicted to making wigs, but I guess that's natural with me. I admire things for a long time, then once I learn how to do it, I do it until I lose all interest in it. I have pics, but I have to figure out how to block my face out of the picture first.
I just love that I can find information on anything I could ever want to learn to make on youtube! It's truly great! I thought that youtube would go under when Google bought it and it became legit, but I am more in love with youtube now than I was then!
Well, that's enough from me, tomorrow, I'm getting my hair done by the dominicans as a test run for my friend's bday surprise. Wish me luck. P.S. Are you living up to your true beauty potential? what does that even mean?
Look good but make sense,

hair option #1
So my latest obsession for the last couple of days has been the invisible part quick weave. I have scoured all of youtube to find information on how the style is created and how to do it without glue. I will obviously be opting for the glue-free option.
Well God must have decided that he wants me to get it done because while I was waiting on my lunch (that took a dangone hour for the lady to make), there was a young lady with an invisible part weave! Now talk about a sign just falling into your lap! Well anyway, I questioned her up and down and sidewise, discreetly of course, about her weave. I found out the hair she used, the method used by her friend and all other juicy tidbits. One thing she said that hurt me a bit was that she didn't mind her friend using glue on her hair because she doesn't care for her hair. I wanted to offer her a brief but effective consultation with Liz, the all-knowing, information-regurgitating natural hair nerd, but I was so excited about what the weave looked like in person that I let her slide.
So I've found a hairstyle that is a protective style while satisfying the desires of my loved ones (a subsequent post will be dedicated to this topic).
Look good but make sense,

hola, it's me, Liz
Hello Blogosphere,
So to kick things off the right way, let's start with the question that's burning in my mind.
Is it too much to ask for what people wear on their heads to not look fake?
I mean honestly, I understand that many people have forgotten that the original purpose of a wig was for it to masquerade as .... your hair! Nowadays, the things people have on their heads cannot be mistaken for anything other than distractions.

Please don't mistake my disdain for folks with horrible weaves and wigs as a thinly veiled attack on hair extensions or chemical processes. As a natural hair wearing woman, I'm not hating on the folks that choose to chemically straighten their hair or wear weaves, I just don't believe that I should know that you've chosen to wear a weave or wig! Now I've had quite a few weaves and wigs in my day, and I'm certain that at least a few have been questionable, but I'm older and wiser now. I expect more from myself and more should be expected of me as well.
Also, where are these women's friends? or all of you so afflicted by distractingwig/weaveitis that your own inflamed wig/weave is blinding you from seeing the atrocity on your friend's head? I'm just saying! Your friend should let you know that whatever you have going on with the unnatural looking hair is a mess!
So this is my charge to you all, please please do not wear any hair extension that does not easily blend with your hair, does not flow and bounce like real hair, or that is a color that God didn't intend for humans to have their hair!
Look good but make sense,
Liz
